Sometimes I wonder when exactly my classmates and I will ever stop being inappropriate. It is bound to be a problem as first year residents when we learn how to substitute inadequacy with humor. For example, our conversation at the beach on Wednesday...
Vershanna: Is that an innie or an outie?
David: It's neither.
Vershanna: Then what do you call it?
Ashley: It's called a mistake.
Vershanna: Can I touch it?
David: Yeah. It's kind of hard though.
[silence]
David: Oh come on, just touch it.
To a bystander, we would be the last three people on God's Earth who should ever be handed a surgical instrument. Maybe all medical students should be offered a course called: How to be intelligent twenty somethings who don't appear drunk in public. Or maybe just me.
