The article on CNN.com continued with a comparison of the recent debates to a game of "Truth or Consequences" as opposed to the comparison/contrast structure we all learned about in middle school. This is what bothered me so much about Sarah Palin's statement at the vice presidential debate to the effect of "not answering the moderator's questions in the way they may want her to"...hello, that's the point of a debate, sister. Hopefully the presidential candidates will err on the side of caution and not annoy the percentage of voters who are choosing to watch tonight.
So it is no secret that the city of Galveston is still on the outs from the hurricane. But apparently it is up and running well enough to host a wedding reception, and that wedding reception was hopping enough for Brandon Backe, a Houston Astros pitcher, to get in a brawl that led to his arrest (along with 10 other people). A little known fact: Brandon Backe is from Galveston. But having a wedding in Galveston right now was a seriously questionable decision. Maybe Backe got a little too drunk in the hotel bar since the other bars in Galveston were under 6 feet of water? And what about the wedding pictures? Last time I checked, there were piles of trash and appliances (not to mention the massive amount of boats that washed ashore) littering nearly every inch of the Island. My suggestion? You probably should have rescheduled. Although I'm sure Brandon Backe looks nice in a tux.
